Porto at your feet…
The year of 2013 was heavily marked by the growth and expansion of Shiadu, this time towards the north of Portugal. Porto was the city chosen to receive the fifth unit of the Shiadu accommodation: the Casa dos Lóios Boutique Guesthouse by Shiadu.
In Largo dos Lóios was born the site to implement the Shiadu standards: a service of comfort and refinement, with a committed and profoundly dedicated service to each client.
In a house constructed in the sixteenth and seventeenth century, the 12 single, double, and family
rooms were installed with a comforting private patio, ideal to relax in at the end of a long day of outing and discoveries.
Once the house of the Ferraz Mello family, renowned in the textile industry, the so-called “Casa de Santo Elói” since early on differentiated itself from the constructive typologies and morphologies developed at the time by the Board of Public Works. Lower than the standard building, the architectural misalignment and details of its windows and balconies was inventoried and classified by the Museum Conservation Institution (Instituto dos Museus e da Conservação), but it is the interior of the house that delights even more.
The two ceilings in wood where the deluxe rooms are currently at, guarantee to dazzle those who stay overnight, and were once part of the music room where the family’s children used to have singing and instrument lessons. Executed in the second half of the nineteenth century and decorated in the manner of that same century, both ceilings were safeguarded in the course of restoration work, as all the architectural details guarantee a unique stay to all those who visit us.
Located in the historic center of Porto, named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, Casa dos Lóios Boutique Guesthouse by Shiadu guarantees an ideal geographical location to those who intend on familiarizing themselves with the city’s attraction: the São Bento railway station, the Torre dos Clérigos (bell tower in Clérigos Church), the Palácio das Cardosas, the Rua das Flores and even the Dom Luís Bridge are within a relaxing walk, accompanied by lovely views.
Moreover, every morning you can start the day with a delicious, homemade breakfast in the quiet inner courtyard. A small luxury in the historic center of Porto… follow your instinct, we wait for you!
At Shiadu, each guest sees their stay complemented with a series of services already included in their room rate, as well as other services that can be solicited before or during their stay, at an additional cost. For added convenience, the payment of all services not included in the room rate must be made during check out, with our guest relations.
In addition to the services mentioned above, between 08h00 and 22h00 daily, there is a guest relations team available for personalized service and always attentive to every guest.
“Casa dos Lóios, Porto, an excellent choice!”
Historical building, beautifully decorated. Excellent loacation, only a few minutes walking time from train station, city centre, restaurants, river Douro, wine cellars. Extremely nice and helpful staff, make the whole family feel at home. Very tasty continental breakfast, with some Portuguese specialities (try the rabanadas!). Perfect for families with kids (the family suite, with its beauiful hand painted ceiling, is just incredible!). Definitely, our home in Porto.

“What a surprise!”
Great experience. In the historical center and short walking distance to Porto’s monumental highlights like: Av. Aliados, Clérigos Tower, Ribeira, the D. Maria Bridge, the S. Bento train station. Plenty of small shops and fine little restaurants to discover nearby. The atmosphere is cozy and staff really friendly. I stayed in the smallest bedroom available and even that was very comfortable. I was shown other dream like rooms and next time I’m sure I’m going to stay there to try a different one. They are very diverse in terms of of scale, views and atmosphere. Definitely worth the price and besides recommending it, its my new place of choice to stay in Porto.
